ABOUT GARRETT BAKER:
I am running for Franklin Township Trustee because I love living in this community, find public service fulfilling, and believe that I am the best candidate to ensure our township will thrive in the future. I am fiscally conservative, and I plan on being a champion for our township and our residents.
I am a husband, father, and a public servant. I was raised on the West Side of Cincinnati to a blue-collar family. My family has instilled in me the importance of being self-reliant, assertive, creative, hardworking and helpful to my community. I built a home in Franklin Township many years ago, and I do not plan on leaving.
I am heavily involved in our community. In 2022, I began serving as a Committee Member on Springboro School District’s Safety-Security Committee where I remain an active member. In 2024, I served on Franklin Township’s Comprehensive Plan Committee. Also, I am a member of Middletown Sportsman’s Club, Southern Ohio Dog & Game, Franklin Historical Society, and FOP Hamilton Lodge # 038.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Accounting from the University of Cincinnati. I received my law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. While in law school, I was elected Executive Editor of Law Review. I have bar licenses in Ohio, Kentucky, the Southern District of Ohio (federal), and the United States Supreme Court (federal).
In 2010, I started working as an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Dayton Prosecutor’s Office. While at the City of Dayton, I gained a wealth of experience doing bench trials, jury trials, writing appeals, and arguing before the Second District Court of Appeals.
Since 2019, I have worked at the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecutor. In 2024, I was named Chief of the Economic Crimes Division where I am responsible for handling a wide range of cases involving employee theft, cryptocurrency theft, elderly scams, identity fraud, RICO cases, breach of public trust cases, and other complicated financial offenses. I am happy to say that I have made an impact during my time at Butler County Prosecutor’s Office, and I have ensured that those that take advantage of the elderly get held accountable!
My priorities involve focusing on the Safety & Security of the township, along with being committed to Fiscal Responsibility, and increasing Transparency, which I believe could be improved.
